Definition of IPD

Medical tourism or health tourism is traveling to other country with the aim of receiving therapeutic and health services. Lack of specific types of treatment methods, higher costs and lack of access to modern health technology in one,s own country are the reasons that people travel to another country. In Iran the costs of medical services are more reasonable as compared to other countries in the region and at the same time the medical and nursing services are offered at an internationally acceptable quality, many patients tend to travel to Iran in order to receive therapeutic and health services. In fact, these factors have made our country one of the most important destination of health tourism in the region. 

IPD services:
•    The international patients department (IPD),of the hospital consists of specialists, experts and experienced doctors who work round the clock to lay the ground for the provision of health services to the international 
patients.
•    The IPD expert is responsible for coordinating the referral of international patients to the hospital and offering them the needed services.
•    Providing a residence area at the hospital based on the patient,s culture is one of the competitive advantages of EMAM Khomeini hospital.
•    Translating all of the documents and forms of the hospital in to the two languages of English and Persian has been a great progress towards maintaining the rights of the patients.
•    The daily visiting of the international patients by the IPD doctor at the hospital and the presence of specialized and experienced doctors in the department are some of the factors that have helped EMAM Khomeini in NAMIN gain the trust of international patients.
